Who wouldn’t want a wealthy bride — elegant, well-educated, and with a noble title?
A young man from the provinces arrives in the capital in search of a worthy match, but the choice is far from simple.
Will it be the beautiful yet arrogant Alyona Vlasevna, the eccentric Varenka Oblonskaya, or the sharp-tongued Liliya Varyatinskaya?

Set in the late 19th century, just after the peasant reform, the play draws uncanny parallels with the post-Soviet 1990s — reminding us that human nature never really changes.

Действие разворачивается в конце XIX века, сразу после крестьянской реформы, но многие ситуации и типажи до боли знакомы каждому, кто пережил бурные 90-е.
